Triforce of Communication

What is the goal of your communication? Once this is known, you or someone listening to you can figure out how best to proceed when someone is communicating with you.

Ask your partner or ask which of these three is expected in response for a given topic. This will help get everyone's needs met.

  1. Just want to share and be heard.
  2. Seeking sympathy, comfort, praise, or celebration.
  3. Trying to solve a problem, seeking help or advice.

If they ask for three, you can always give two or one. But if they ask for one, don't try anything higher than that.
