Congee
Congee or juk is a super easy and tasty way to use up old rice (you can also use new rice). It's particularly easy if you cook rice on a stovetop and you have a bunch that sticks at the bottom of the pot, because you can just reuse that pot directly.
Ingredients
- (1 part) Old or new rice
-
Water
- Old rice: 4 or 5 parts
- New rice: 8 parts
- Some salt
- Savory flavorings/toppings (boullion, mushrooms, green onion, ginger, garlic, etc.)
Instructions
- Put the rice, water and seasonings together. Let boil for 45 minutes or however long it takes to taste good and for the rice to just get fatter and bigger.
- When it's the porridge-y consistency you want, add the toppings.
- Eat!
